The Concerto is an arrangement, perhaps by Lotti himself (M. Talbot) of three opera arias taken from his works Giove in Argo and Ascanio. The sources are: 1) the anonymous manuscript of the parts: “Concerto a 5 | g b | Hoboe Principalo | Violino Primo | Violino Secundo | Viola | et Basso Continuo.”, Saml.Wenster L:10, Universitetsbiblioteket, Lund (S-L), RISM: 190001696; 2) the manuscript of the score: “Die meisten Arien aus der Pastoral | Giove in Argo | und der Opera Ascanio”, (18 arias and 1 duetto from the pastorale, 35 arias and 1 duetto from the opera by A. Both manuscripts erroneously attri-bute the concerto to Heinichen, while several more reliable sources (Christoph Graupner, Breitkopf Thematic Catalogue. Part III 1763) indicate Antonio Lotti.
