The source is the anonymous ms. of the score (Mus.2-R-8,86), transcribed by Pisendel during his Italian travel (1716/1717). Recently the Sonata has been attributed to Giuseppe Maria Fanfani, a violin virtuoso from Florence. The ms. was digitized in the project „Instrumentalmusik der Dresdner Hofkapelle“, SLUB, Dresden.
